C3 Young Scientist Prize-call for nominations
The Young Scientist Prize in Statistical Physics has recently been established by the C3
Commission on Statistical Physics of the IUPAP. The Prize is aimed at recognizing
outstanding achievements of scientists at early stages of their career in the field of Statistical
Physics. Up to three awards will be presented at the next Statphys25 conference which will
be held in Seoul, Korea, July 22-26, 2013. The recipients must be no more than eight years
past PhD on July 1, 2013, and are expected to have displayed significant achievement and
exceptional promise for future achievements in the area of experimental or theoretical
Statistical Physics. Adjustment for time not spent in research will be made in certain cases
(for example, for military service or for women who have taken maternity leave). Previous
awardees are Giulio Biroli and Tomohiro Sasamoto (2007) and Davide Marenduzzo (2010).
The Prize consists of a certificate citing the contributions made by the recipient, a Medal and
1000 euros. The nominations must be accompanied by a CV, a list of publications and a
description (about one page long) of the specific achievements of the nominee; they should
also include details of the publication (or publications) for which the nominee is suggested.
Self nominations are not accepted. The entire package should be bundled into a single PDF
file and emailed to the C3 Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org by january 31, 2013.
